Update: No more $13 quesadilla, nor a road neither

Whether this wee blog has had an impact or not, the Mineshaft Tavern -- where I lunched with the missus and friends on Sunday -- no longer has a $13 quesadilla. The price is something under $9. Competitive? Perhaps. Personally, the burgers are a better bet: more food, less money. Did I mention that I love the Mineshaft Tavern?
As to real news, I can only report that I hauled my butt up to Santa Fe last week to apply for the construction of my driveway, linking my property to the road. It involves improving an easement that borders two other properties that did not appear on the original survey of the land. Based on original deed information I had a surveyor redraw the plat with all of the deeded easements apparent and based on this I will put in the drive.
I arrived at the county offices with what I thought was all of the paperwork I needed. I had downloaded forms from their website and thought I was all set. The rather charming young lady manning the desk at the time informed me I had it all wrong and gave me a whole new set of forms and a checklist of homework I will need to do in order to get a permit.
I had previously discovered that lots of people out there in the boonies do not bother permitting their small access roads: many just drive back and forth on it until some form of dirt road becomes apparent. I have chosen not to take this course. First, the law is that you are supposed to get a permit, and second, I want to have a more “engineered” drive put in. One with some form of drainage at the least.
And I will need to get this done as quickly as feasible to be able to even consider the next steps in building the house. I just hope my second trip up there is more fruitful.
